The Story
(Because people always ask)
This is how CDF came to be.
(you should send your kids some day)
1st summer as a camper
(1999)
I was a camper for a couple years at Camp Arrowhead, pretty sure I started going when I was 10. At first I only went for 1 week a summer but it turned into a month by my last summer.
I started working at camp as soon as I could and stayed for about 7 years. Some of my best memories are from those summers and it definitely helped shaped me as a person.
I also did some very dumb things
while at camp...
Like climbing things I shouldn't have and making some interesting hair choices
Camp is also where I discovered Ultimate. So yeah, that's cool.
Every year for Labor day weekend, there is an event Camp Arrowhead has called "Family Camp." It's for parents to come with their kids to have a fun weekend and maybe test the camp out before sending their kids by themselves during the summer.
In 2018 I decided to attend with my "family" of friends and see how it goes. We split into 2 teams and made a competition out of everything on the spot. It was a great time but there were some set backs. Waiting in lines for actual kids to do things... Drunkenly tiptoeing by cabins at night. We even had to sleep far out in the woods so we wouldn't keep other families up with our late night debauchery.
Somehow we survived the weekend without any problems and camp and I began talking about bringing a group on a different weekend for us to go a little more nuts.
And now here we are...
My last summer working camp
